FIRST THING FIRST

STEP 1: Student Consultation/Intro to CrossFit

Once you’ve decided you want to get into the best shape of your life and be a part of a community of like-minded people, it’s time to book a Student Consultation/Intro to CrossFit with your personal coach. Do it alone or bring a friend along to your 60-minute FREE INTRO SESSION for "Maui Residents". First, you’ll meet your personal coach, who will explain the CrossFit methodology, as well as CrossFit Maui’s application of CrossFit, which is based on the Madlab Group’s system. Then he/she will look at your fitness strengths and limitations and evaluate your current level of fitness.

STEP 2: Personal Training

Our fundamentals (personal training) program is going to look a lot different than group aerobics or group bodypump, or a bootcamp or any other group exercise class. Yes, you will eventually have the option to graduate to CrossFit group classes; however, before that we need to ensure that you are both competent in the CrossFit movements and fit enough to safely join group classes. To do this, we use established physical Benchmarks and the Pocket Coach to monitor your fitness progress. With that in mind, you will start off by completing 12-20 one-on-one or two-on-one private training sessions, where you will be coached by a CrossFit Level 1 and/or/both Certified Personal Trainer. Our instructors are some of the first CrossFit coaches who brought CrossFit to Maui six years ago; their experience is second to none. During your 12-20 personal training sessions (the number depends on your personal fitness level and physical abilities), you will become familiar with the CrossFit movements (30-40 movements), things like Olympic weightlifting, power lifting, gymnastics and rowing. STEP 3: Group Classes

Once you’re competent in the CrossFit movements and reach our graduation requirements, you are free to begin group classes. During group classes, you’ll push yourself and sweat it out with like-minded individuals, as you compete with yourself (and others, if you choose) for rounds, time, points, glory, emotional satisfaction and spiritual growth. You will reach new physical and emotional levels you didn’t think were possible, and you will undoubtedly find yourself with a new social and support network, who will help you on your continued path to greater health and happiness. There will always be a CrossFit Level 1 and/or/both Certified Personal Trainer present. This ensures you will continue to receive technical coaching even as your CrossFit and fitness abilities improve.

Private Training & Consulting

We also work with small to medium sized business/sales teams whose performance (and income) at work is dependent on their health, vitality, energy level, motivation, stamina, and drive.

AREAS OF FOCUS:

  • Fitness- Stabilization comes first; followed by strength, flexibility, stamina, endurance, power, speed, agility, balance, coordination, and accuracy. The movements and exercises we use combine bodyweight calesthenics with weightlifting, gymnastics, and cardiovascular exercise. The movements we teach are functional (mimic movements in real life and sports), and our workouts are fun (once you’re finished) and varied so that your body always has a reason to make an adaptation.
  • Nutrition- From losing weight to peak performance, what you eat is responsible for at least 60% of your results in your health and fitness training. We’ll work with you on developing a unique nutrition program that actually works with your life with emphasis in areas like eating habits, food choices, shopping, planning and preparation, snacks, and eating out.
  • Re-Conditioning – Maybe you’ve spent years focused on your career and work, and neglected your health and body. Maybe you’ve had a nagging injury that has kept you from doing the things you really want to do. It’s time for a change! This is a gradual and systematic process that we guide you through to regain your flexibility, range of motion, strength, and coordination.
  • Motivation / Accountability – Do you follow through? Are you good for a couple weeks only to find that you can’t keep it up? Do you continually to get good results and performance increases or do you find yourself stuck, stagnant, or maybe even moving backwards? How’s your “self-talk”? Do you believe in yourself? These are some of the many questions we help you answer en-route to a completely new you!
